The Playhouse Theatre in Whitley Bay is located on Marine Avenue, Tyne and Wear. The venue underwent an £8.5 million refurbishment and reopened in September 2009. It features a 638-seat auditorium, a 10-seater corporate viewing suite, as well as contemporary bars and lounge areas that offer sea views. The refurbishment was part of North Tyneside Council's £64 million regeneration programme for Whitley Bay.
