CITY POP WAVES lands at Crystal Palace Bowl on 7 August 2026 with Masayoshi Takanaka leading a bill steeped in Japanese pop and city pop influences. Junko Yagami brings her sophisticated singer-songwriter catalogue, including material from albums like "TERRA - here we will stay" and "There you are", alongside recent single "Pass the Smile". Ginger Root adds tightly arranged city pop, funk, indie pop and J-pop, channelling the project’s self-styled "Aggressive Elevator Soul". Pianist and composer Himiko Kikuchi completes the line-up, rounding out a one-off Crystal Palace Bowl show curated by Palace Bowl under the CITY POP WAVES banner.
