The Gate is situated in the Roath area of Cardiff and occupies a Grade II listed building that was formerly the Plasnewydd Presbyterian Church. The structure was originally constructed in 1886 as a school hall, with the church added in 1901, designed by architect W. Beddoe Rees in collaboration with J. H. James. Since opening as The Gate Arts Centre in September 2004, it has hosted a range of events including art exhibitions, music performances, theatre productions, conferences, and community outreach programmes.
