The Canteen opened in 2009 as part of the Assemblies group, situated on the ground floor of a former office block that has been transformed into an open-plan bar, café, and performance space. The venue is noted for offering free live music most nights and serving a selection of local craft beers and ciders. Its exterior wall features Banksy's well-known 1999 mural 'The Mild Mild West,' which depicts a teddy bear throwing a Molotov cocktail.
