It has welcomed renowned artists, including Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Hollies, The Kinks, and Procol Harum. In the 1980s, it became notable for all-night Acid House parties during the MADchester era, and acts such as 808 State and A Guy Called Gerald performed there. The venue has been fully restored, maintaining its vintage wood wall panelling, sprung dance floor, and psychedelic illuminated ceiling, and now hosts a range of events throughout the year.
