Larmer Tree Gardens, established in 1880 by Augustus Pitt Rivers as pleasure grounds for public enlightenment and entertainment, comprise 11 acres within the Rushmore Estate in Cranborne Chase, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The gardens feature several Grade II listed buildings from the Victorian era, including ornamental Indian pavilions and the Temple, and were restored and re-opened to the public in 1995.
