The Civic Theatre in Chelmsford, located on Fairfield Road, originally opened on 25 May 1962 as the Assembly Hall, serving as a multipurpose venue for dances, talks, and meetings. In 1982, the Cramphorn Theatre was added as a second, flexible space for more intimate performances and community events. In 2022, significant transformation works modernised the theatre’s front of house areas and facilities to enhance the visitor experience.
