Chequer Mead Theatre, located on De La Warr Road in East Grinstead, is a purpose-built community arts venue that opened in November 1996. Each year, the theatre hosts more than 250 events, including plays, musicals, concerts, and comedy nights. Operated as a community arts charity, Chequer Mead Theatre receives support from over 70 volunteers.
