The Assembly Hall Theatre, situated on Civic Way in Royal Tunbridge Wells, was designed by architect Percy Thomas and opened on 24 May 1939 as part of the Civic Centre complex. Since 1967, it has been home to the Tunbridge Wells Operatic and Dramatic Society, whose first production was Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The Gondoliers'. The venue has hosted a diverse range of performers, including Shane Filan of Westlife, Coolio, Let Loose, and The Stranglers.
