On 1 July 2027, Fontaines D.C. bring their UK tour to St James’ Park, loading the stadium with their mix of gothic rock, indie rock and post-punk. Little Simz appears in support, folding hip hop and pop rap into the bill and cutting through with tightly constructed verses and hooks. Viagra Boys return to add art punk, art pop and cowpunk energy, twisting punk structures into something stranger and more jagged. Sitting between Blackweir Fields and Heaton Park on the run, this show catches the three acts road-tested and locked into their contrasting styles.
