Following Fat Freddy’s Drop’s 21st anniversary celebration of "Based On A True Story", their set keeps the focus on groove and melody while drawing on the band’s sophisticated arrangements. Positioned ahead of The Wedding Present’s c86-rooted indie rock night and later dates from The Mary Wallopers and Jalen Ngonda, this performance shows the Leeds programme drifting from experimental and reggae-tinged shows towards a more overtly song-led, soul-attuned phase before the bass-heavy grime of Dizzee Rascal arrives.
