Midlake reach Alhambra in Paris on 11 February as the tour moves towards its European finale. Here, the Denton band lean into their blend of folk rock, indie folk, indie rock and progressive rock, with material from across their history threaded together with newer songs like “The Ghouls” and “Roadrunner Blues” in the lead-up to “A Bridge to Far”. Support act Brethren, a three-piece doom cover band from Glasgow, set the tone earlier in the night with dense, slow-moving tracks from their EP “The Barb”. The Alhambra show frames Midlake’s melodic rock against Brethren’s weighty doom.
