Tom Smith brings the New Releases Out This Week series to a close at City Varieties on 11 May 2026, rounding off the Leeds run with a rock-centred performance. Known as songwriter, vocalist and guitarist with Editors, Smith’s solo material, including singles “This Life” and “Life Is for Living”, leans into moody, melodic British rock. Following Memorials’ experimental turn at Hyde Park Book Club, this final date shifts the focus back towards song-led structures, framed by the historic theatre setting of City Varieties. It marks the concluding stop in a Leeds sequence that has moved from alt-country and Americana through free jazz and noise rock into widescreen rock songwriting.
