The Chats

Australian shed/punk rock

The Chats, hailing from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, have carved out a formidable reputation within the garage punk and hard rock scenes since their formation in 2016. Renowned for their self-proclaimed “shed rock” sound, this trio—comprising Eamon Sandwith on bass and vocals, Josh Hardy on guitar, and Matt Boggis on drums—burst into wider consciousness through their viral hit “Smoko” in 2017, quickly followed by other cult favourites reflecting their uniquely Australian perspective.

Over the years, The Chats have released two acclaimed albums, including the boisterous 2022 LP GET FUCKED, and are set to deliver their third full-length, Half Cut, in March 2027. Recorded in Los Angeles with Jay Whalley of Frenzal Rhomb, this upcoming effort continues their tradition of raucous, irreverent rock and roll. Tracks such as “6L GTR”, “Struck by Lightning”, and “I’ve Been Drunk in Every Pub in Brisbane” showcase their knack for sharp hooks, dry wit, and driving energy, resonating strongly with fans of punk rock and raw, unfiltered live music.

Autumn 2027 sees The Chats headlining an impressive run of shows across the United Kingdom as part of their Half Cut UK and European tour, with dates at celebrated venues including London’s Electric Ballroom, Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom, the Manchester Academy, and more. For any devotee of high-voltage gigs and authentic punk spirit, The Chats remain essential listening and unmissable in concert. Follow The Chats to keep up with their latest releases and find out where you can catch their next electrifying show.
