Sunday Mourners

Sunday Mourners, hailing from California, have carved out a singular niche in today’s live music landscape with their distinctive blend of post-punk and freak-folk influences. Drawing from years of musical camaraderie, the group is renowned for a razor-sharp sound that pairs serrated instrumentals with a sly, sardonic edge reminiscent of cult luminaries such as Subway Sect, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, and Television. Their approach to music results in performances where flat wound strings and brittle cymbals conjure both the cool bravado of lounge legends and the raw energy of punk pioneers.

Their discography has recently expanded with the release of "A-Rhythm Absolute" in January 2026, an album that highlights tracks such as "Careers In Acting", "Darling", "11,000 Volts", and "He Cried (Tender Absolute)". This follows on from the well-received "Boyfriend/Girlfriend" album (2024), both releases displaying Sunday Mourners’ knack for inventive songwriting and evocative themes. Their catalogue boasts songs that range from the cinematic "Phantom Affair" to the electrified "American Commuter", underscoring the band's versatility and restless creative spirit.

Known for their compelling concerts, Sunday Mourners have recently headlined celebrated venues like the Purple Turtle in both Reading and London. Their UK October tour dates in 2026 will see the band headline esteemed rooms such as Headrow House in Leeds, The Jam Jar in Bristol, Third Man Records in London, Rough Trade in Nottingham, and Neighbourhood Festival in Manchester.
