Fake Empire

Portsmouth based band formed in 2017

Emerging from Portsmouth on the South Coast of the UK, Fake Empire have carved their space in the British indie rock and post-punk scene since their formation in June 2017. The band, comprised of Simon Brookes, Les Black, and Becky Bellinger, has earned attention for their “surging atmospheric indie rock” sound—an aesthetic that resonates across their recordings and live shows alike.

Fake Empire’s recent activity includes a headline performance at The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth in September 2025, sharing the bill with support acts Magnetic Skies, Slow Century, Wooded, and Jalou. Earlier in May 2025, they played in support of Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys at Edge of the Wedge, adding their distinctive energy to a diverse live music line-up. Their catalogue features the single “Imposter Syndrome,” released in January 2025 with multiple mixes showcasing the band’s dynamic range and commitment to textured songwriting.

With a reputation for compelling concerts and a growing discography, Fake Empire remain an essential presence for fans of indie rock and post-punk. To keep up with tour dates, new releases, and news, be sure to follow Fake Empire and check for updates on their forthcoming gigs.
